Experience
Tom began his accounting career with Arthur Andersen & Co. in 1974 in their Santa Barbara office. On Sept. 1, 1982, Tom joined Earl Damitz and Rick Nightingale to form the partnership that acquired the Arthur Andersen & Co. Santa Barbara practice.
Tom has concentrated his career in the areas of income and estate tax consulting. He works with clients to create an overall estate and gift tax strategy to minimize the transfer tax cost of giving assets to their ultimate beneficiaries. Tom has extensive experience providing income tax consulting to individuals, partnerships, closely held C and S corporation, fiduciary entities (trusts and estates), charitable remainder trusts and private foundations. In addition, he is significantly involved with testamentary trust administration.
Tom is also responsible for keeping the Firm’s computer software and hardware technologically current, and is chairman of the technology committee of PKF North American Network.
